She's Got Eye's Like Pissholes in the Snow

It's Friday and I'm in Love....Er....Perhaps Not....

Go over to NHS Blog Doctor to see the nightmare of MTAS unfolding, today it visits me as the fallout comes my way in terms of DPA requests. Keeps me off the streets I suppose! Also keeps me away from doing library things but these requests aren't alone in that. It's been one of them days. Nice thanks from the person I sorted the other day with an FoI response which is nice (don't often get thanks as a result of FoI). Chat to an OT who wants to put in a request from over in the Land of Manc.

Library wise it's a positive day in a way, I deal with the galloping pharmacist of what was Norf', he's a star and nice to sort. Kinda get the promise of some Antimicrobial guidelines that have gone missing in action in the way that only Grey Lit can. Send some stuff to one of the good guys in unplanned care. Highlight of the day of course though is Dave nipping in. Very good to see him and nice that we can do our bit to support him. He even brings us a model Vespa from his Italian Trip (library convention begun by former Faders Sally and Christina is that if you go anyhere you bring back a mode of transport for the shelf top).

Home and I get the delights of food from the Ying Wah, the sounds of Jack Hayter ('Practical Wireless' and very fine it is too). Sort photos for Monst of her trip with the boy to India. Blog and generally chill and try and avoid the fact that right now I'm missing beer. The coffee seems to be going OK though.

Hatch a cunning tidying plan for the house, bet I don't keep to it though.

Fursday KSF Fun and Other Stories

Begin the day getting as much news down my throat as possible given that I was a lazy toe rag and not up 'til 7. Tracy saves the day and picks up where I had to leave off. Then it's off to the first part of some performance management training which should give me the keys to the e-KSF door which is essention for some library staff redesign that is overdue. LDB were meant to let us know when the training was on instead it was our Comms team that did by of all things communicating - can you imagine that.

Head to town, plan is to dump the car in the most spiritual carpark in town (under Paddy's Wigwam) but today it's only season tickets so presumably the Bish is having a bash upstairs. Result is I end up in the Max Escher on Mount Pleasant. Call Tracy for directions and find the gaff down in the Jacobite unfriendly quarter of town (Hanover Street, Duke Street, Argyle Street, still looking for Stab the Jock Street....) Therein I find one Elaine G. and Peter H. Cool, shoot the breeze, sup some bloody awful tea. Training is good, but that's not suprising it's Elaine that's running it and she's always good. Lunch and Tom and Sean from Dave B's crew introduce us to the perils of the e-KSF. Wow, that was hard.....not! Still I come way realising how much we still have to do.

Away home to feed the family and collapse into bed early via a bath that was too hot and the beginnings of 'Porno'.

Ooops, Beer of the Pathway!

Friday

Say a fond farewell to Dave who comes in to produce another issue of Vanity Project on the Photocopier. Good to see him, good to hear the new job begins in the smoke on Monday. Positive vibes that direction. Helen comes into see us. Strangest event is writing an appendix for an independent inquiry that I wasn't expecting to write. Other news is FUBAR NHS strikes again as late in the day I get a visit from someone wanting to brush their skills up in anticipation of the need to look for gainful employment elsewhere. Fine and dandy but the person concerned will be a loss to the Trust, again we lose good people as a result of reform and not because we should lose them but because they are being frustrated and their talents aren't being utilised.

Home and I get sent out for ginger and come across some bottles of White Horse Bitter from the White Horse Brewery. Grab a couple of bottles of a taste from home. How times have advanced when you can find real beer from home up Norf!

Saturday

Dates to me are things that appear magically on a page, or I read but don't pay a huge amount of attention to when I dust off the history books but not today. Today is the 4th November and I'm on a mission. Today is the day to buy the tickets for Cal's first foray into footie. A quick online sesh shows me I'm up too early for Everton but later in the morning (about one coffee into the day with thoughts of brewing another rattling round my head) and the site is ready to do business. Result we have tickets for the Everton v Arsenal Carling Cup game on Wednesday. Callum is suitably excited!

News from Scotland is that Margaret has unfortunately died this morning. Although not unexpected it ain't exactly good news.

Other than this the day just cruises by with a shop at Sainsury's the viewing of various bits of recorded programs, some light reading and Monst drafting a letter to a school on behalf of the boy. I just tidy it up a little but the content is Monst's.

A Post Called Reg

So today we find out that the NHS is doing a worse job than we thought the last time it was assessed. Well that's what the Health Care Commission are telling us. We scored a couple of Fair's does that mean anything to you? Means nothing to me until I look further and discover the picture looks more like this. Even then it ain't exactly illuminating, and I'm kinda in the trade. Nuff moan about that!

Dave is in again today, if your reading this and have a spare minute think positive vibes to benefit him as he faces a couple of interviews. Never nice, but nice to see him again. Send out my bib for peoples websites.

Sort out some e-book related queries, chat to some good people, Lisa, Beryl, Liz, add a comment to support some folk I know around a post on E-Health Insider about SearchMedica (a tool I really approve of but don't see as the be all and end all). I think I'd be more impressed if it didn't involve one of the GP comics which make the Nursing Standard look a respectable read. Think it was them if I remember rightly that described one Paul Hackett as a bully (boy did we all laugh at that concept!) Still the concept is sound, the practice cuts down on crap and it is a potentially valuable tool, but thats all it is another tool!

Things I must do tomorrow:

  • Mail Christina with some gubbins
  • Get the lowdown on our new intranet and work out how to crash the party!
  • Play with Liberty
  • Speak to somebody at Gateway House (anyone'll do, just answer the phone!)
  • Give more information to Will of SW1

    Hubbly Bubbly

Finally get round to checking out Finals Fantasy - the 2006 World Cup blog that has involvement from Dave. Go visit even if football isn't your thing, it's an amusing look at the coverage of the tournament. Made me laugh anyway..... Right having done my stuff here, I'm off to the Heaf'................
