Sunday Night, Stoopid Reflections
This week has been about bids and preparing for bids and as a result I suprise myself by returning to the scene of one of my student summer jobs, Servispak. I was hoping they'd do placcy bags but they've stayed true to their vision in corrugated cardboard......
Industries that I've worked in that I'd rather forget....- Nuclear Industry - 7 months of cataloguing geophysical reports after library school temping. A good professional grounding and financially rewarding it bought me Geraldine my first car, a sweet red Fiat 126. That's the positive, the negative was that Nirex want to bury radioactive waste, I'm not certain to this day that I approve of the nuclear industry and my life fell apart on a personal level while I was doing this job. Top of the guilt list.
- The building Trade - labouring for the old fella was never just days lobbing bricks at the bugger. The cement mixer hated me with a passion. Still, I now employ the formula for knocking up a gauge of muck for making coffee.
- The packaging industry - a summer as a strapper in a box factory. Cash in the pocket, beer down the throat but hardly an intellectual endeavour and I was crap at it. Early mornings that killed me, breaks were a relief still have fond memories of the folk I worked with and it introduced me to the delights of the X-Ray Spex.
