The Black Hit of Space

New Year's Eve brings it's usual round of Monst going into work, gloom and mayhem on Casualty on Beeb 1 that I do my best to avoid, nostalgia TV on Beeb 2 with a look as Saturday Morning kids TV through the eyes of the Multicoloured Swap Shop (which I do look in on) and bugger all else I wanna watch right now. Really nothing I wanna watch right now so take the opportunity to label unlabelled tracks on the Notpod. Listen to some guilty pleasures as I do so (believe me some of them are more guilty than you will ever know - yes Shan if you read that you can play guessing games!) Mind you I ain't certain that listening to the Fun Boy Three is the best way to cheer yourself up. Gonna fetch some Brakspears Organic to sup. While I'm on a nostalgia kick I might as well drink a beer in exile! None of Ken's sobriety here! (That's not to disparage it either, I just don't do life without a beer, tried to give up alcohol one Lent and lasted three days dry - mind you going to the pub each day didn't help!)

Now I know what happened to Emu when Rod Hull finaly karked it playing TV Arial Mr Fix-It, Amy Winehouse turned the poor bugger into a dress. Didn't stop a fine performance of 'Monkey Man' though. Hootenanny as ever provides a nice mix of music and while some leaves me a little cold in the main it is good stuff.

The folks call me from Norway to wish me a happy Norwegian New Year, ever impatient as a nation they have the thing in advance of us, just like Christmas. They seem to be having better weather than is forecast here. The swine.....

Cal eventually falls a-kip. I just relax and sup beer. So anyway, Happy New Year One and All, hopefully it'll be a good one with lots more peace than the last one.

Doyouthinkeesaurus?

Morning begins with the usual weekend game of fetch the Monst from Faz. Feed the boy and myself and then settle into to doing his homework. A bit of maths, a bit of spelling and some reading. We read 'Land of the Dinosaurs' from the Oxford Reading Tree. This then leads us to the decision that today is a day for seeing dinosaurs and I don't mean Led Zeppelin! Result is we head to the World Museum in town. A quick hour of muscular christianity then! Along the way we nip to Curry's, do the dirty deed and purchase a replacement washing machine which as ordered matches the tumble dryer (Monst assures me that this is important). The transaction is completed by 10:56 which I figure is good going considering Curry's don't open 'til 11:00.

Home and to assist with the Crimble present Disney Trivial Pursuit we watch 'Pirates of the Caribbean' which seems to have more than its share of questions in the thing. Dunno if it's me but Johnny Depp sounds pissed throughout the thing.

Fetch crumpets and croissants for the Faz ICU's new year's breakfast as ordered and get prepared for this year's Hootenanny!
