Put on Your Mourning Weeds

So I find myself second in the league on an equal number of points with the league leaders. Celebrate with a bottle of Bishop's Finger. Np to Asda before finding this out and fetch food for Cal's packed lunch. Why am I slightly disturbed at the cancelling of Top of the Pops? It's years since I watched the thing and when I did it was rare that it'd play anything I liked. I remember the dreadful Pan's People (and the discussion of them as 'birds' by my old fella) as my earliest memory of the thing, that and the Sweet performing 'Blockbuster' and Bowie playing 'Space Oddity', the dreadful dance troop that replaced Pan's People a period when the thing pretended to be party central and you hoped John Peel would be presenting it because he was at complete odds with the Beebs message back in the 80s. Mind you happy memories of the Bunnymen, Bis etc are there too. Truly a dreadful thing but we watched it religously and it's that residual part of me that feels discncerted by this news.
