So much delight at the derby win. Sunday the wi-fi in the house is a pig. Of course this is because I overlook the simple solution - the cat's been attacking the PC! Today I solve it with a huge Homer, Doh! AM news a pig. PM visit Christies for a presentation from Elsevier's. Interesting stuff, some of which may be of use. Home and fling the secret ingredient into the mince and tatties I'm cooking. I'll have to kill you if you ask what it is!

Mark Allen's e-offering sucks. I asked for a price for the British Journal of Healthcare Assistants the other week. They didn't get back to me so I spoke to them today. Ideally I'd like an e-copy - it'd suit primary care much better. Had copy comes in at a price that is not smal but not excessive. E-copy requires me to buy the whole of the Internurse package. While it would be nice it's out of my league in terms of value of use.

Begin some work wrapping stuff around the begining of some stuff around intelligent booklists.

Ground Floor Milk Club Christmas Nibbles

So the evening is spent sorting the kitchen floor, adding labels to the latest 100 posts of this place.

Jolly japes, sausage rolls etc in the library today. WFAS come over, we invite ESAT but they hide, Andy from IT, Michelle and Sharon from Clinical Governance come down. It's a pleasant way to spend some time. Nibbles in the library.

Serious shit come in the way of legal work from Iqbal, an FoI conversation and chaing up pledges of dosh for e-journals.

Sunday Morning Coffee Spills on the Sheets and It's Monday

Tracy calls to let me know she won't be in. Stretched right now as a service. Nicola is at Library School, I'm due at the Heaf' and need to keep a low profile so a morning of closed library will be the result. Roll on January when we gain Helen.

The Heaf' PCT Librarians followed by The Commissioner, good people to see, some useful stuff, some stuff that makes me wanna scream. Usual stuff that does the latter and usual suspect is responsible. NHS colour palette comes up in conversation.

Athens, implications further north that I chat to Michael about, he takes it better than I expect but then he has a potential fight on his hands with the situation up there.

Get back in time to deal with some pressing needs for articles to support interview presentations (word had got round that colleagues had found something useful - the something was vague and not specified though and of course when in competition with someone else you can hardly ask them what they've found - easier to ask your local librarian and I'm not knocking that,that's why we exist). Score some freebie stuff I wasn't expecting but then that's a bit of result. My FoI meeting seems to have had the rug pulled from underneath it without anyone telling me which is fine by me. Gives me time to locate some stuff that the requestor has been extremely vague about. Definitive today is not in anyone's vocab.

Monst calls to agree on the plans for the left over chicken from yesterday. Solution is suprisingly easily arrived at. I'm therefore bound for the Chung Wah supermarket on the way home.

Cheap amusement via the student nurse who is dragged in by the person she is on placement with, abandoned as they go off to do something more important. Sort her out with some teenage pregnancy material and that keeps her amused. Nurse education has a long history of keeping students busy by sending them to library.....

Evening

Xfruits tells me that it's added RSS to E-mail, RSS to OPML and OPML to Mobile bricks. The former looks very handy as a tool and I play with it briefly. Look forward to seeing some results out of it.

Whinge! Moan! Suppliers eh!

IP range, we've never got that one sorted, suppliers get baffled by it when you try and explain the current situation and then you bring up the notion of Athens which is followed by a whimper at the other end of the line! Not helped by the fact the product I'm dealing with is a freebie to GPs and perish the thought that there are any other types of user in primary care that would have an interest in Guidelines. Still I pass them into the tender loving care of Ingrid. They call back later and though they haven't spoken to Ingrid they have to Athens and are getting cost details.

Meanwhile Binley's call, Nigel's moved on, we missed the geezer who took his place and now have a new fella who seems pleasant and reminds me that the licence is due for renewal next month.

Net is unnacountably slow today from here, much swearing at the thing, not what you need on a Monday morning/afternoon. Day is filled with confusing and unclear FoI requests (I ask for clarification to make sense of it) and the odd other bit and piece. New version of Feedreader to play with.

Home calls, Margaret (Monst's Aunt) has been dragged to hospital. Not sounding too good, Monst is worried but her hands are tied by her impending trip to India and the need to be at work. All rather too reminiscent of her Dad. Poor Kitty is on the frontline of this one.

Home via Pizza Hut at Cal's request, fetch food for Monst from the No Mercy's 'Simply Food' (which also sells tights, flowers, cards and newspapers and I ain't about to eat them!) Eat, and drag Monst to work. Home, Blog, Cal baths.
