Happy Mothers Day, Happy Mothers Day Again

Interflora, so good they delivered twice, once with non-ordered chocs and once without. Stunned me, stunned florist, shocked Monst. Oh, well the thought was there and Cal gets the kudos. Meanwhile down sarf a card arrives that shocks the old drear.

Day has been dull save the dash to find a copy of the Battle of Britain for the boy who is showing an interest in history right now that I wish to encourage. Maintain the weekends campaign for inappropriate clothing by wearing my sandals barefoot at the No Mercy. That served the place right!

Listen to Everton beat Arsenal, aaaargh! I'm gonna suffer that one tomorrow no doubt.

Can't believe Bob Woolmer is dead, it's a bit extreme as a respnse to Pakistan loosing.

Plan an evening watching 'The Wind that Shakes the Barley' suspect I will enjoy it but get pissed off as a result.

Saturday

Why do Argos have an inability to stock multiple items when you need them. Spend the day trogging round Speke, Prescot and Warrington stores. Warrington has its usual shite traffic. All for the sake of a couple of suitcases in red. Sandals day and I like the beasties, trying to get my feet used to them and they are, very comfy but totally inappropriate for this time of year!

Spend Paddy's day stone cold sober and don't use the Irish clause to break the lentern tasks. Curses, what a fool in retrospect..... Meanwhile Ireland beat Pakistan in the World Cup, a cracking result.

He's Got to Be Taught, Cos He Is More Evil Than Anyone Thought

Big T is finally complete. Finish about 5. Was it worth the effort, er...franky no, already the floors are begining to silt up and I'm growling at anyone threatening to make a mess.

Fall asleep this afternoon, no doubt I'll pay for that tonight. Fit the news in at points, get blogged with tomorrows though.

Sent to the No Mercy to retrieve the holiday pics from Boots I replace the bat phone which hasn't charged overnight, suprised at how good Comet are about that given that I couldn't find the reciept. Seems to do the job a treat.

Christ what an exciting day..... grab a bottle of Old Rosie from the fridge, complete the Sunday evening constitutional phone call, still laughing at the efforts to help the boy with his spellings. His teacher suggested that we employ analogy so the suggestion for Should from the old fella was Sharon Has Orange Underwear Like Dad - dunno that it went down well. Even if Cal don't remember it I sure as hell will now!

The Stoopid Thing is I Can't Get the Bloody Queen Song Out My Head

Cal has a birthday looming, he has been promised a bike if he learns to ride the old one. Consequently we take him to the path that runs close to our house and run around, hand clasping the back of his saddle only to release him and see him cope with cycling until he realises what he's doing. All this to a mental Feddie Mercury soundtrack. Anyway the boy shows enough form to convince us that while not quite at the total solo stage he's close enough to warrant a purchase. So off we go to Halfords at the No Mercy. There we encounter Mr. Disinterested and his colleagues Mr. Bugger Off and the Saturday Boy. Still eventually in a purchase that involved all three in the space of half an hour at various points but with a universal lack of commitment to flogging bikes we buy Cal the thing. Hope them boys ain't on commission because it'll be lean times at Halfords if they are!

The rest of the day has been a mix of sleep, cooking and sleep. I wake up by evening and begin the washing (not that there is much of it, Monst's been busy with it through the week), but there is an incentive, fresh clean sheets tonight!

Listen to the footie along the way, Robbie Savage, shame on you, no wonder Gilberto fancied kicking you! Very pleasing win.

Kitchen Bondage Part IV

Boxing Day

An early start to the day and an early return to my pit. This results in a late second rise. Cal meanwhile has got up and begun to set up his Playmobile Safari Park. Cool, he's done it by himself and not disturbed anyone.

Monst rises and consensus is that we need to get out of the house for a bit. Also there is the planned investment in a tumble dryer to be done. We combine the two with a trip to the No Mercy, which ain't fully open or as mad as I expect it to be. Do the full loop of it beginning with Curry's and that's where we end up buying the thing! Monst grabs some clothes for the boy along the way, I grab exciting stuff like razor blades, shampoo and light bulbs (Boy do I know how to live).

Return home and chomp the goose soup that has been manufactured from the goose stock, spare goose and a handful of pearl barley.

Evening and we roast the ham and I get to eat braised red cabbage with chestnuts - it is incredibly noticeable how my veg intake is increasing with Crimble as an excuse.

Whinge! Moan! Suppliers eh!

IP range, we've never got that one sorted, suppliers get baffled by it when you try and explain the current situation and then you bring up the notion of Athens which is followed by a whimper at the other end of the line! Not helped by the fact the product I'm dealing with is a freebie to GPs and perish the thought that there are any other types of user in primary care that would have an interest in Guidelines. Still I pass them into the tender loving care of Ingrid. They call back later and though they haven't spoken to Ingrid they have to Athens and are getting cost details.

Meanwhile Binley's call, Nigel's moved on, we missed the geezer who took his place and now have a new fella who seems pleasant and reminds me that the licence is due for renewal next month.

Net is unnacountably slow today from here, much swearing at the thing, not what you need on a Monday morning/afternoon. Day is filled with confusing and unclear FoI requests (I ask for clarification to make sense of it) and the odd other bit and piece. New version of Feedreader to play with.

Home calls, Margaret (Monst's Aunt) has been dragged to hospital. Not sounding too good, Monst is worried but her hands are tied by her impending trip to India and the need to be at work. All rather too reminiscent of her Dad. Poor Kitty is on the frontline of this one.

Home via Pizza Hut at Cal's request, fetch food for Monst from the No Mercy's 'Simply Food' (which also sells tights, flowers, cards and newspapers and I ain't about to eat them!) Eat, and drag Monst to work. Home, Blog, Cal baths.

Year Zero Day Five

Er... this began yesterday and overran somewhat.....

Wednesday: Smashing Time

Fucking typical, I leave everything to the last minute as usual, wake early, sort the news, discover I've lost my wallet somewhere, head into work and only then prepare my training session for the afternoon. I'm even at it now taking five and avoiding the need to write the thing. And what will I say to the little sweethearts today, don't leave everything to the last minute and then reveal how stoopid I am for doing so.

Throw into that little lot that I hear some glass smashing and panicking that it was my friendly local pack rats I checked it out only to see a red car head away at a rate of knots away from the house next door to Marie and Terry's old, old house (turns out it was someone nicking the car). Bleary eyed I didn't put two and two together and it later turned out that a brick had been hurled throught hte window, nothing taken. Plod were over later apparently according to Monst and Terry came over to see if I had any more detail before he borded up the window. Me I don't have a scooby. Still a little edgy excitement local to us.

Serendipity is a wonderful thing, yesterday Kate C. Library friend, nurse of more than good standing dropped of some Health Visitors as a donation, one supplied a request in the afternoon. Scooby Snax her way! Even more due to her as I drag some of the journals over to introduce the poor NVQ crew to Harvard referencing. Sesh goes well, main message that we're here to help them gets across and they handle books and journals and fling them about with gay abandon. Nice bunch and I have fun.

Home and the yoedelling hoover comes out and I run round like a loon hoovering up half a cats worth of shed fur. Then its dash back into town to pick up the folks from 'Chitty Chitty Bang Bang' (which they've thoroughly enjoyed. Drag the magic of book with me and apart from being crapped on by a pigeon (yes, I know that it's meant to be lucky) things are fine but I'm knackered by the time I get home.

Frightful Fursday

Why is it that the press are so wedded to the notion of Health Authorities? Primary Care Trust Launches Authority the clues in your headlines boys or girls or those who haven't made up their minds yet.

A day here of arguing with computers, things happen at a snails pace.... Not a good day. Various pdf conversions lighten the day, as do the odd marginally daft mail, good company and coffee that old faithful!

Home and its out with Monst to PC World, the No Mercy, Pizza and Sainsburys, shove lamb into a marinade and the chill.

Film of the Bungy Jump

Through the wonders of You Tube here comes the film of the Auckland Bungy Jump

Right now my head is still marginally wrecked by the dreaded jetlag as I try and sort the technorati tags for the posts wile I've been away. On the jetlag front we got back on what I was convinced was Wednesday (turns out it was Wednesday, Friday therefore was naturally Thursday it was only the marginal increase in crap sitcoms on TV that alerted me to the fact it was in fact Friday). Slept most of yesterday afternoon and again from about 8.00. Woke at 3.00 this morning, frantically trying to stay awake today to try and reach some level of normality. Meanwhile poor Monst returns to work tonight

Yesterday we ordered prints from a CD we'd burnt at Boots at the No Mercy, followed that with a lunch of Pizza at the Pizza Hut and I went to the Ying Wah when I surfaced from my afternoons kip. Other than that Flickr photo's, just Monsts to go. Returned to the No Mercy to fetch photies and in search of this years Arsenal kit for the boy for PE purposes. Success on the former not on the latter. Monst will sort in the week.

No Sleep 'Til Halewood

No Mercy and the trip round the furniture stores. Results in a new dining table and chairs being ordered from a geezer called Wayne who seems to me to be a bit like Swiss Toni. However this happens in Harvey's in the interim we've waled the perimiter, been into every furniture/clothes store. My rewards are trips to Smiths and Borders, lucky me! In both I conspicuously try not to buy anything and immerse myself in Charlie George's autobiography the cunningly titled 'My Story'. I can see me buying it eventually. It reads easily and I enjoy the few chapters I get through. Pizza for food at Cal's request, makes my life easier then home. Wrestle with some RSS stuff for this training session. Then want sleep. Blog first, catch up with Ken and laugh at the Rabbit based antics. Find myself wondering how Sally got on in the smoke. Technorati Tags: , , , , , ,

The Camp Freddie Navigation Solution

.....and so a return to cataloguing to a backing of Steve Wynn which is never a bad thing. Dash off a return mail about the 'C' word. Then move onto the Elastica at which point Nicola appears. We repair to the Meeting Place once I have catalogued enough to justify a coffee to myself and find it shut. Still it is a nice walk in good company.

Return to my heap of Health Promotion library. All drugs today..... this may influence my reaction to the discovery of something I wrote called 'The Camp Freddie Navigation Solution', come to the conclusion that this is clearly the name of some 60's garage/psych outfit from Nuneaton. Throw it open to Shan and Ingrid to name the members. It's at times like this I regret my lack of musical ability........

Chat with Steve from Christie. Old person NHS talk, reforms, collapse of the public sector, impact on multidisciplinary education, woe is me type chat. Organisational redesign arthritis I think. Lots of it about right now. Does point me in the direction of a gap in the market that might be worth exploiting..... Main reason for the chat though is to sort Christina's trip to the Inter-lending group meeting tomorrow up in the wilds of Preston. Good opportunity to swap what we know though.

Quick positive vibes to Sally, not because she needs them but because she thinks she does! Send her an email to that effect but because I'm a gnarled, sarcastic old bugger I hope it reads as positively as it is meant. Loads of doubt that way about emails sent today.

Home via the No Mercy to pick up 'Zathura: A Space Adventure' for the boy and Monst as a World Cup antidote. An order for ginger also comes in.....

Smurfs Win Knobbly Knee Contests

Saturday Day 2 of Blinklist, looks like a change of work flow is gonna be needed. On the plus side should speed up some of the prep work for the e-mail version. Head to the No Mercy, Monst after brown paper and processing her Disney snaps. Have a pizza for lunch and then head over to the Grange at Gateacre to take Cal to Dean's party. Spend the time he is at the party sorting food for the evening as we slap some steaks on the barbecue. Works out well then Monst heads to work. Not perhaps the most exciting of days! Sunday Fetch Monst from work, feed her, Cal remains asleep throughout the whole gig, I feel drained so as soon as Monst hits her pit I go and crash in Cal's bed for a couple of hours. Most unusual for me, feel better for it. Rehit the Blinklist stuff and get news ready to roll for the morning. Phone home on the Sunday constitutional, feel knackered. Waiting on Monst calling. The 2Bs beckon. On the Fantasy Leage front, remain in second place behind Ken with Christina breating down my neck, suspect tomorrow will see me lose places, a bad game for Spain would suit me!
