A Day in Three Halves

Morning

The whistle is required today because we are interviewing for the Assistant Librarian post. Suits and me mix rarely. So rarely it induces much piss taking on the part of folk that know me. So things you need to know are:
  • I feel self concious in a suit and constricted.
  • I hate interviewing with a passion, it stresses me out because I always feel so bloody guilty about the process.
To negate the suit thing I invariably wear a stupid tie that would be banned in at least two of the region's NHS Trusts as being unprofessional. I am still looking for the pair of lime green desert boots to finish off my subvert the suit look (if you see any let me know - seriously I mean it!) In the absence of the tasteful desert boots I don't have, my increasingly knakered boots do the job - they look so unsuitlike!

The second element of the day I can't help but it does lead to one of the nastier elements of today. I couldn't find the sodding car keys. Naturally all dressed up like a pox doctors clerk I panic. Run around the house like a flock of headless chickens. Ring Monst in the smoke to enquire about the location of the spare set (she don't have a scooby because idiot boy here knicked them from her last time he lost the car keys). Look down the inside of the sofa's, retrace steps in the kitchen, tear bathrooms, office apart. Ring Tracy who offers a lift if I need it. I'm really fucking stressed by this time because I'm running late for a meeting about KSF's and I don't mean Kentucky Fried Dead things. Ring Tracy who rescues me, drags me to Mossley Hill to meet with Angela Delea.

09.30 the meeting begins and I'm there in the nick of time (Tracy makes good cavalry!) Thing is I'm the only fucker who is there. Idiot boy forgot that the rule of the LDB is to be fashionably late (ensures you realise how busy they are). Coffee and discussion of KSFs ensues. Gossip and I get asked to drag together some sort of toolkit for the VLE on writing articles for journals. Apparently I know about such things - won't let the facts get in the way of a good story there though!

Jump a cab back to Reggie for the C&M Marketing meeting. Piss poor turnout, just Mo and Suzanne. They bring me up to speed (they've been doing constructive things in my absence and I'm impressed). Mo also supplies me with coffee. Very kind.

Afternoon

No matter how much I wanted to stretch out the meeting the afternoons interviewing had to be faced. Tracy has the questions prepared, she'd even given me a set that I'd lost! She gives me a second set. John Young arrives as expletives flow about an FoI request, he takes the piss out of my attire. Needs doing. Pumps me for info about this mornings Kentucky Fried Dead Thing meeting, his has been booked.

Interview goes better than expected. Tracy is a star, Helen is good, we crack through it at a rapid rate. Come to a conclusion satisfactory to all. Need to contact a few folks when I get half a chance. No time at the time though as Tracy returns me home. We unwnd with a cup of char. Then onto the mad tidy up to:
  1. Locate the missing car key (the bugger turns up inside a sofa!)
  2. Prepare for Mrs Raven
  3. Prepare for the return of Monst
Cal is helpful and wields a mean hoover.

Evening

Monst turns up and we sit in the kitchen catching up. She's had a good time with Annette which is great, she deserved it and some more after the last couple of weeks she's had. She wants to head over to Bold Heath to the Mayflower for some food. This we do having played Triominos a game she has bought for Callum. Fun game we all enjoy it.

Back from Bold Heath another game of Doms, Cal watches a film, I head upstairs and finish the days news, blog and relax to the sound of the Frames and the Relationships. Finest stuff

For any mathemeticians who realise that there are only two halves in one day, please note I also maintain that immorality is short for sin! In both cases I maintain that I am entirely correct.
