Waste half a day having to pick Cal up from Kirkby and having to transport him to the dental hospital to visit the dentist - it's a long story regarding the why's and wherefore's of his dentist being there, most of it involves the status conferred on him by his speech problems. Either way it's a pig for me every time he has an appointment because I have to trip to the other end of the city, get him out of school (a process which seems to take forever) and run the gauntlet of a pissed of Monst who has travelled into town to meet us, usually having benefitted from very little sleep having worked the night before. And so it is today, reach the school dead on time (having visited Maryland Street on the way to the school to drop off some boxes admittedly), take 10 minutes to get back on the road and arrive to find a hostile Monst because he has no time before the appointment at 3.30. Rest of the day, sorting some barcoding, some cataloguing etc. Usual stuff. Home via the Eagle and Child (as it is today) where we eat, pub grub at its most average. Cal goes to Beavers and I clean the living room in preparation for the England match. Go and fetch Cal who is Beaver of the week and has a trophy that looks to me like some sort of urn, maybe there's a sprinkling of dessicated Baden-Powell hidden deep within. So it reaches half time, my german defender plays a blinder and gains points earlier in the day, England are 1-0 up and the clean sheet is the important bit for me so hope they keep it up for the second half. Just as well really, slipped to third in the league, still trailing Ken and Christina is breathing down my neck, meanwhile Christina's dad was top of the league last night. Cracking goal for Joe Cole but Michael Owen looks to be badly hurt. Bring on Theo Walcott I say. Post match need to head to Asda.... deep joy, will the excitement never cease.... Which reminds me, big shout out for Coutts who we began using this year as a bookseller. More than a bit impressed so far......
